A railway line is being sabotaged and after one such fatal incident an old engineer "Smokey" (J. Farrell MacDonald) - is dismissed. The hitherto quite profligate young son of the owner (William Collier Jnr.) asks to be allowed to investigate this spate of unfortunate events and soon discovers there are much more sinister goings on afoot. ffects - especially around the disaster scenes, and some fisticuffs that verge on the comical. The rather lacklustre script is also very much of it's time and much of it's dialogue flows like glue too, but that said, it is still quite an engaging tale with a bit of a social conscience too and as it progresses you do really begin to feel sorry for the wrongly sacked engineer as it builds to quite an exhilarating ending.
