Privacy Policy

Viiibz is operated by Simple Ventures (“we”, “us”). This policy explains what we collect when you use Viiibz, why, who we share it with, and the choices you have. The short version: we use your information to run the app — saving movies, showing where they stream, and sharing with the friends you choose. We do not sell your personal information.

What we collect

Information you give us

• Account details: your email address, and the name, username and photo you add or that Google shares when you sign in with Google.
• Birth year (optional): used only to suggest a content-rating setting. It is never shown to anyone.
• Your activity in the app: movies you save, mark watched or favorite, your lists and their privacy settings, the streaming services you select, and your rating preference.
• Social activity: friend requests, friendships, movies you recommend to friends, notes and replies you write, and recommendations you accept or dismiss.
• Invites: each invite you send by text, email or link gets its own code so you can see whether it was used and by whom. For email invites we send one message on your behalf and keep only a one-way hash of the address (to prevent repeats), not the address itself. Text invites are sent from your own phone; we never see the number.

Information collected automatically

• Cookies: strictly necessary cookies that keep you signed in, remember services you pick before creating an account, remember an invite link you followed, and give signed-out visitors a random ID so “Watch now” clicks can be counted. We do not use advertising cookies.
• Analytics: we use Google Analytics (through Google Tag Manager) to understand how Viiibzis used — pages visited, features used, device and approximate location. It only runs if you accept analytics cookies in our cookie banner, wherever you are, and you can change your choice at any time. Advertising features are turned off.
• “Watch now” clicks: when you follow a link to a streaming service we may record the title, the service, the kind of device and your region, linked to your account if you are signed in, so we can fix broken links and, where a link is an affiliate link, match commissions reported by the affiliate network.
• Technical logs: our hosting and database providers keep standard logs (such as IP address, browser type and request times) for security and troubleshooting.

How we use it

• To provide the app: your library, lists, where-to-watch, friends and recommendations.
• To send emails you would expect: sign-in links, invites you ask us to send, and notifications when a friend sends you a movie or a request. You can turn notifications off in your Profile.
• To keep Viiibz secure, prevent abuse and fix problems.
• To understand which features are used and improve them.

Who can see what

• Your profile is private. Your name, username and photo are visible only to your friends and to people with a pending friend request or invite between you. There is no way to search for people.
• Lists are visible according to the setting you choose: only you, your friends, or anyone with the link. A list shared by link does not show who made it to people you aren’t connected with.
• Friends can see your watchlist, watched list and favorites. Private notes on your saves are never shared.
• A recommendation and its replies are visible only to the sender and the recipient.

Who we share it with

We share information only with service providers that help us run Viiibz, under contracts that limit how they use it:

• Supabase — database and sign-in.
• Vercel — website hosting.
• Resend — sending email.
• Google — sign-in if you choose “Continue with Google”, and Google Analytics as described above.
• Cookiebot (Usercentrics) — the cookie consent banner and a record of your choice.

Movie information comes from TMDB and streaming availability from Watchmode; we send them movie identifiers, not your personal information. When you tap through to a streaming service, that service’s own privacy policy applies. We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect rights and safety, or as part of a merger or sale of the business (with notice to you).

We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

Children

Viiibz is not for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.

Your choices and rights

• Edit your profile, rating preference, services and notification settings at any time in your Profile.
• Change any list’s visibility, remove friends, and delete lists or saved movies.
• Delete your account at any time from your Profile — it takes effect immediately. You can also ask us for a copy of your data, or to correct or delete it, by emailing hello@viiibz.com. Depending on where you live (for example California or the EU/UK) you may have additional rights, which we will honor.

Retention and security

We keep your information while your account is open. When you delete your account we delete your personal information within 30 days, except where we must keep it to meet legal obligations; backups roll off on their normal schedule. We use encryption in transit, access controls and database row-level security so each person can reach only the data they are allowed to see. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect yours.

Where data is processed

Viiibz is run from the United States and our providers store data in the US. If you use it from elsewhere, your information will be transferred to and processed in the US.
